I wanted to show you a little something else before the weekend. Air plants! Our recent "kitchen renovation" needed a little greenery. I stopped at Paxton Gate the other day and found some really great air plants. I tacked one to the wall, and hung the other larger plant in front of the kitchen window from the ceiling. These are plants I may not kill, which would be great. My green thumb is highly selective.
These photos don't really do it justice (our kitchen has only a north-facing window and is so dim), but they have warmed up the space nicely. We were used to a giant vine hovering over us for so many years, it's nice to have a little tiny bit of green back up there.
We also replaced the old, cooking grease covered strings of lights with new, white, soon-to-be cooking grease covered strings of lights. It's a nice change. It lifts the ceiling a little bit.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Nice, I wonder how those work?!
ReplyDeleteHaha, Ann, if this was your post, you would've figured that out (and provided a graphic, and a list of book resources regarding where you can find more information about air plants). :) I think I see an air plant post in your future!
DeleteI have a air plant topic on my blog post list too :-) But I don't have any yet. I was considering a few because it seems like I have slight chance of not killing them with my black thumb. Many of the planters made for air plants are such great modern organic shapes that really appeal to me. I love your choices here. And I'm still loving those shelves.
ReplyDeleteFunny how grease gets everywhere, yeah? I don't have a vent in my home and we don't really do much frying (or cooking for that matter) but yup grease city.
Oooh, I want to see what kind of air plant you have on Maui! We'll have to link it up after you write the post! Thanks about the shelves, still loving them here, too! ;)
DeleteNEVER living somewhere without a vented hood over the stove again. Guaranteed! It's really bad. That vine I chopped down before I put up the shelves? COVERED in sticky cooking grease. Ugh!
Looks great! I have been "green thumb" impaired since I can remember and Air plants are the only plants I can manage to keep alive. I just bought a wide range of plants from Air plant design studio and they have some really cool stuff and are super helpful with picking the right plants.
ReplyDeletecheck them out! www.air-plants.com
