the first dozen
Hi friends! These donuts are pretty impressive if I do say so myself. So impressive that I contacted Wilton, the company who makes the donut pans I use, to see if they would like to collaborate me on a publication of some sort. I had high hopes. I am loving using these one-use-kitchen-gadgets in as many ways as we can come up with.
I had met with my friend Bridget from Chronicle Books for different book and brochure ideas to approach Wilton with, and consulted with my Girl Crush creative group before I sent the email. Unfortunately, Wilton gets emails from people looking for the same sort of thing all the time, and they weren't looking to work with me in that way. I've got a long way to go before I reach 101 uses for the donut pans, so I am still hopeful something more might come of this. They are so fun and pretty and I know I'm selling pans from all the feedback I'm getting. So, fingers crossed. I might even do it myself, using Blurb or some other online book maker. We shall see.

Wilton did do something very cool, however. They graciously sent me eight more pans to work with! I barely have room for all of these pans now, but it's great, because the edible and inedible projects should not be made in the same pans, and now I've got enough pans to last me quite a while.
Eight new donut pans, rush job!
And they did another really cool thing. They offered me giveaways! This is really exciting. Today is the first giveaway, in honor of the first dozen projects we've completed.
A set of Wilton donut pans can be yours, shipped directly from Wilton. And this one is super easy. All you need to do is tell me you would like a set, and I'll randomly choose someone this weekend. I'd love to hear if you've been following along or if there is a particular project (you can see the first twelve HERE) you'd like to try first, or if you've got a tip on how I might get these ideas published, but that is not required. Just let me know you'd like a set! We'll do the address thing after you've won. I will collect comments until noon on Sunday, August 26th, at which time the contest will close.
Here's the fine print, from Wilton:
Contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States of America, Washington, D.C. (excluding US territories and possessions) or Canada (excluding Quebec), who are are eighteen (18) years of age or older. Void where prohibited by law.
Good luck! And if you don't win, don't worry, I have four more sets to giveaway in the future. And thank you so much for reading. It means a lot to me! I have a new donut pan idea post coming up tomorrow, a really great idea Stella had, so stay tuned!
Yay Tiffanie! I know this is just the first step. Your doughnut pan projects are amazing and so beautifully photographed, someone will see a book there. How could they not?! Meanwhile, it seems that Wilton has hooked you up. I'd love a doughnut pan, but mostly I'm just really excited for you!
ReplyDeleteso excited you're doing this! hooray! (and thanks for name-checking me!) Like TangledLou, sure i'd love a pan, but mostly just had to write in to say Go You!
ReplyDeleteYou know I want at least one of these pans!! Mmmmm, donuts!!
ReplyDeleteWe'd like to play with the pan!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how awesome! I would love love love to have one of these pans. I'd try the shortbread cookie cups, they are adorable and I would serve them at a tea party for my family. Thanks for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S AMAZING! Tiffanie you don't cease to impress. (: I'm with TangledLou, I'd love a pan set to try out some of the awesome projects you posted (I really like the ice and crayon ideas .. although .. I'm technically not 18 for another couple of months *sigh*) but mostly I'm wiggling in excitement for you ... !
ReplyDeleteTiffanie, Yay, I'm so glad to see your doughnut pan project merrily skipping down the path towards becoming a book. What a stunning book it'll be, too, no matter how you publish it! I am dropping my name in the hat cause I'd definitely like to sample some of your delightful + delicious brainstorms for myself!
ReplyDeleteIt's an embarrassment of riches! So many donut pans, so little time. I'd like to use one to find out if they work as jello molds!
ReplyDeleteThey do! I did the Olympics ring symbol out of them a few weeks ago!
DeleteThank you all so far for your super-sweet, super supportive comments. It's wonderful to know I've got you all rooting for me, it really is! xo
ReplyDeleteLove the giveaway and the blog!!!

I like the little pie shells you made with the pan upside-down, the flower ice, and the molded paper donuts. My daughter would have fun trying some of these. She is the baker in the family : )
ReplyDeleteI think self published eBooks are becoming much more well respected and lots of things the publishing companies put out you have to wonder about. BTW, love Chronicle Books! I was thinking of making an eBook with a 50/50 to a charity...
I've definitely been thinking about eBooks since you last mentioned it. I need to sit down and see what that entails, will probably be a great way to go! You have so many great visual things you could turn into a book!
DeleteI think you mean the seed bombs when you say the molded paper donuts, although I have been kicking around the idea of some paper mache/piñata-type project in the pans. You know how I feel about small piñatas! :)
Oh yes please! Brownie donuts! My imagination is going wild with all the things we can make with this pan.
ReplyDeleteTiffanie, this is without a doubt a book in the making! I can see it- with a Chronicle Books logo on the spine!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHow far are you on your list of 101 ideas?? I wonder how a donut frittata would turn out? A turkey meatloaf donut?
Great job... an incredible idea and so well done! xo Anna
Hi Anna! I have done 13, if you include the madelines I published today. So, 88 left to go! I have been pondering which direction to take with a savory egg dish, quiche/frittata, etc. And definitely meatloaf....I have a children's cookbook from when I was little that had meatloaf rings with mashed potatoes in the middle. I'm going to cook up a more sophisticated version of that. Thank you so much for your comments!
DeleteI would love one of these pans! What a great first giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThank you to the folks who commented today! This is turning into a healthy competition (and still a random one, of course)! I appreciate all of you for stopping by and for all of your support!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'd love to have one of these pans. I would think a Kindle book or other e-book would have the lowest cost to publish?
ReplyDeleteHi Kristin! Good luck to you! Yes, I think online would be a very cost effective way to go. I still would love to see them on paper, though!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I'd love to win a set.
ReplyDeleteIt would be neat to do some sort of Christmas craft with them and make donut wreath ornaments. Maybe some kind of salt dough?
Hi Marisa! My daughter and I went out and spent breakfast brainstorming ideas the other day, and we got really excited about holiday themed donuts, especially wreaths! There is so much fun to be had for sure! Thank you for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love to have a donut pan and I'm just headed to check out what you've been working on.
