round up: day-to-day

Some of the last holdouts from the gutter garden.

We're doing the day-to-day thing since Stella started school. I'm cooking full dinners with gusto again. I'm PATIENTLY waiting for a few exciting emails to be returned. I'm putting longer feelers out for work. I'm examining this blog and questioning its originality. I'm making lots of donuts. I'm getting pretty nervous about my first kittening gig coming up in a week with Red Hots Burlesque (I'd rather be dancing!). I'm waiting and waiting and waiting for the hot weather. THAT might be making me crazy.

I hope you have a great weekend, and thank you so much for stopping by here. :)

Weekend sewing project.

Making tags for Oliver's birthday party. Not the first time I've used paper bags. Remember these?

Walking through the Panhandle on the first day of school.

A second grader. Here are all of her past first days of school. She's so big now.

What Oliver does when Stella's in school.

What I do.

Something to fool around with.

Strange tomatoes.

"Dead pirate skeleton".

"The richest lady in the world".

Lunch.

Animal lunch at the "mooseum".

Shrimp-sized rainbow for a shrimp-sized shrimp.

Rare moment of order.

Cannibalized from "Seasons" by Blexbolex. Sums it up, presently.

  2. I am so in love with that first photo - the color and composition are just tasty. I want to live right there on that little shelf amid the bright orange flowers.

For what it's worth, I love your blog. I think it's a very original blend of design and personal, and it's a comforting place to come visit.

Good luck with all of your projects. I am awed by all of the stuff you do!

    1. Thank you, TangledLou, that all means so much to me. I think I'm having some growing pains, which in the end is a good thing. It's so nice to have support from my bloggy friends, all of you! xoxo

    1. Love al the pics but especially the heart, cork and white rice.

I love your blog and think you are so original. I am thinking about mine too though so I understand. I think at least once a year, we probably have to refocus, look at our design, content and mission. I have no design and don't know how to make anything! I'm more of a sharer or professional gusher! You have more originality in your pinkie girl than I do.

    2. Tania! Thank you for all your support! It is true, there just naturally comes a point where we start to question what we are doing every once in a while, and it always begets change for the better, even if it's painful. For me, having support from others really strengthens my own voice, and lately my mantra has been "get weird". Like, show people who read the weirdo behind the blog. Stop being so pristine. We'll see where that gets me!

I love your blog. I don't read many like yours, but you have the unique situation of being in Hawaii, you have great taste, and you do not overwhelm with commercialism. You do your "sharing/gushing" (don't we call that curating now?) so well. We are all original in our own ways...you know that! I am trying to stop "looking sideways" as I read somewhere at other bloggers and just do my thing the best I can. I'm glad I've evolved that much, it feels good. And less competitive than I used to. I think all of us BlogHer Fall '11 ladies are on the same sine wave regarding the ebb and flow of what we put out there. Do you see that as well? xo
