We stayed again at The Dorrington Inn, a most rustic collection of little a-frame cabins just up the road from Arnold, CA where we stayed last year. This year there was a little more snow on the ground, but we didn't get to see the snow fall, which is kinda heartbreaking for this gal. Luckily this is my second serving of winter, my first being my trip to Utah in January. We headed up to Bear Valley for the sledding, where Oliver got into it after a few fearful runs, purposely causing the sled to "WIPE OUT" at the bottom of the hill each time. He is so incredibly adorable when he's not being super-stubborn. xoxoxo

Wonderful pics! Makes me want to go play in the snow...even though daffodils are beginning to come up in my yard. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rita! I just noticed some daffodils here, too. Spring's on its way! :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful family! I love those little A-frame cabins. It looks like you had a great time, despite no snownuts!
ReplyDeleteWe did, we did. I love your WHOLE SNOW SCENARIO you have right out your front door. Where you live is like a dream to me, no matter the season. :)
DeleteYou inspired me to book a room for a couple nights at the Dorrington Inn. I've been wanting to go to the snow but kept making up excuses (namely money.) Your post was the push I needed to just book a room already. I hope there's still snow on the premises in a couple weeks! Am I likely to need snow chains, ie are the roads there basically maintained and pretty major? I asked the woman when I was booking the room but she just told me chains are always recommended.
ReplyDeleteHi there. I'm glad you're going! We've been in March before and there was snow, but it's a crap shoot. If there is no snow at the Dorrington Inn, which there may or may not be, you can always drive thirty minutes or so up the hill to Bear Valley. You have to use the sleds they rent there to use the Bear sledding slopes, but you can also rent or bring a sled and there are tons of places to pull off on the side of the road and play. The roads are maintained, BUT, chains are often required. We have needed them once momentarily in three years of trips to that area. It's just really hard to say what the weather will be when you go, best to be prepared. Have fun!
DeleteThanks for the info. I'm getting nervous because the weather around my house has actually been colder than in Dorrington. I just hope there's still snow to be had!
